Why as young adults we tend to have negative interpersonal relationships…

Why don’t your parents get you even as a young adult? Why don’t your boyfriend/girlfriend seem to understand your thoughts, concerns, fears or simply the way you process information? Do they just not get you?

Try the prefrontal cortex of the Central Nervous System. When it comes to social and emotional development, the prefrontal cortex doesn’t fully develop until you are 23 to 25 years old. Until then, social cues, verbal and physical interactions are being compromised. When you hear or say “I don’t understand men” or “I don’t understand women,” this is probably true. Your prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, adrenal glands and amygdala (of the Central Nervous System) aren’t working together consistently until your mid to late 20s.

Also, this is why in many cases adults tend to have better relationships with their parents when they are in their 30s.
